Clemson university - icar master plan update
Clemson University International Center for Automotive Research (CU-ICAR) is located in Greenville, South Carolina, about 30 minutes northeast of Clemson University’s main campus. The original master plan prescribed that five distinct technology neighborhoods be built out over the 250 acre campus. One technology neighborhood has been constructed to date, and we were tasked with planning the remaining four. The plan creates distinct cross disciplinary neighborhoods that are intended to foster collaboration and yield innovation by positioning academics, research, industry, suppliers and entrepreneurs in close proximity to one another. The neighborhoods are unified by natural open space and a network of pedestrian corridors, while each responds to the physical landforms and land use adjacencies unique to it.
